THE ROOTS OF RESISTANCE

Today, I’m talking to some of you Visionaries out there – not all of you but some of you.

Some of you Visionaries have an idea of what the Visionary/Integrator combination means. You see it. You want it. You’re saying all the right things but you’re just not moving. There’s no action happening. You see where you want to go but there’s a resistance between here and there that’s stopping you. It’s keeping you from moving forward. In these situations, we typically see that resistance rooted in some form of a fear.

In chapter four of Rocket Fuel, we talk about four readiness factors. To help you get a handle on the root of that fear, I want to take those readiness factors and couple them with their resistance version – or what we call resistance factors.

The first readiness factor is financial readiness. The resistance factor of financial readiness is seeing things as too expensive or the inability to see a return on investment.

With the second factor, psychological readiness, the resistance version looks like lack of trust, the need to maintain control, and an inability to let go. By the way, the Five Tools really help with that one.

In the third, the lifestyle readiness factor, the resistance version is our Visionary is a workaholic. You want to work 60 or 70 hours a week. You’ve got a fear of being put out the pasture if you had that Integrator.

The final readiness factor is unique ability, and the resistance version is some form doubting it can really happen. You don’t feel worthy of being able to spend all that time in your unique ability. It feels selfish to you for some reason.

Does any of this describe you? I want you to look in each of these areas. Identify which one of these things is holding you back. I encourage you to get a handle on it. Go to the root of it and see if you can get past it. I hope you can get past it, and go out there and find your ideal Integrator.

Three key points to wrap this one up:

  1. Recognize that fear is the root of the resistance that you’re feeling.
  2. Face that fear. Which one is it? Go to the root of it. Try to get past it. Join the Rocket Fuel group on LinkedIn. There are other Visionaries out there that have faced that same fear that you’re facing right now.
  3. If you can’t get past it, stay right where you are. Avoid false starts. If you’re really not ready, don’t dive in yet.

Come see us on RocketFuelNow.com. Take the Visionary and Integrator assessments. See where you’re great. See where you could use some help. We’ve been having some great discussions with other Visionaries & Integrators over on LinkedIn and Facebook.  Regardless of where you are in your process, I encourage you to join the conversation! And finally, read Rocket Fuel. If you’ve already read Rocket Fuel, and you liked it, we’d love to see a review from you on Amazon. We’d really love to hear what you think.

Until next time, Go ROCKET!

Cheers,

Mark
